Filter Your Water, even if you don't live in Teaxas. And not that cheap $20 Brita crap. Get a REAL filtration system like Big Berky, Propur, Or Alexapure. and pony up for the fluoride filtration, don't cheap out when it comes to protecting your health
@BrainDeadWhiteBoy Distillation and purification is a better approach to treating that kind of raw water. Strain the water through a simple (coffee) filter. You could boil it for a minute (longer if at elevation). Then treat the water with a better filter. If you have unscented bleach, use 10 drops per quart. Mix and let set for 30 minutes before drinking it. Combine these for more of a non-emergency use. Cloudy water is a bit more difficult. Don't melt the snow. It may not be snow!
yes, those are options, but poor at best. If you have no utilities like in Texas then you can't boil, and Chlorine is bad for the human body, and reverse osmosis removes all the good minerals from the water. A gravity fed water filtration system is the best option, Even bottled water is not a good option since some are bottled from municipal water systems. THE BEST OPTION IS TO FILTER AND STORE WATER FOR EMERGENCY NEEDS
