“Entering Notre-Dame lifts the soul”
Princess Yasmine Murat presides over the “Association pour le rayonnement français”. The wife of Prince Joachim Murat, Princess Yasmine is originally from Annaba, Algeria. She shared her thoughts on the reopening of Notre-Dame de Paris:
“I saw the Paris Cathedral for the first time “in real life” at the age of 11, when my parents took me to France for an operation after I had injured my eye.
Notre-Dame de Paris sums up the history of France and demonstrates its unity. By beheading the king, I believe the revolutionaries wanted to decapitate the country's Christian identity.
Notre-Dame will never be a monument to be visited, a cultural object or a museum. Its Christian dimension is inseparable from the building that has integrated it into every stone and stained-glass window. Just entering it elevates the soul from the very start.
My middle name is Marie, because I was baptized on the feast day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, July 16. That's how close my bond with her is! I'm fascinated by the person of Mary, by her humility, by the sufferings she underwent, by the sacrifices she accepted: for me, she's an example of solidity and gentleness. And now that I'm a mother, I feel even closer to her, especially as I can relate to what she was able to endure through the sufferings of her own Son."

“Mary kisses the lance still reddened by the Blood of her Son"
In this excerpt from Maria Valtorta’s The Gospel as Revealed to Me, the Virgin Mary is in the Upper Room with Mary Magdalene on Holy Saturday, when the master of the house comes to tell her that Longinus, the Roman officer who pierced Christ's heart with his lance, wishes to see her:
Mary Magdalene goes to the Blessed Virgin.
«Mother, Longinus is out there... He offers the lance to You. »
«Let him come in. »
The master of the house, who is at the entrance, grumbles: «But he is a heathen. » «I am the Mother of everybody, man. As He is everybody’s Redeemer. »
Longinus goes in and on the threshold he salutes in the Roman way, with his arm outstretched (he has taken off his mantle) and then he greets Her saying: «Ave, Domina. A Roman greets you: the Mother of mankind. The true Mother. I would have liked it not to have been me... at... at that affair. But it was an order. However, if I serve to give what You wish, I forgive destiny for choosing me for that horrible thing. Here» and he gives Her the lance enveloped in a red cloth. Only the point, not the shaft.
Mary takes it and becomes even paler. Her very lips disappear in the pallor. The lance seems to open Her veins. And Her lips tremble as She says: «May He lead you to Himself. Because of your kindness. »
«He was the only Just Man I ever met in the vast empire of Rome. I regret I only knew Him through the words of my companions. Now... it is late! »
«No, son. He has finished evangelizing. But His Gospel remains. In His Church. »
«Where is His Church? » Longinus is slightly ironic.
«It is here. Today it is struck and scattered. But tomorrow it will gather like a tree that tidies up its foliage after a storm. And, even if there were nobody else, I am here. And the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God and Mine, is all written in My heart. All I need to do is to look at My heart in order to be able to repeat it to you. »
«I will come. A religion that has as its head such a hero can but be divine. Ave, Domina! »
And Longinus goes away. Mary kisses the lance where there is still the Blood of Her Son... And She does not want to remove that Blood. But She leaves it saying: «a ruby of God, on the cruel lance»...
