The filter system in a Shark vacuum typically includes one or two thick foam filters plus a felt filter. The foam filter may also have a HEPA filter to capture allergens and other dirt particles before they reach the air intake.

If you have a dirty foam filter, the easiest way to clean it is to dunk it in soapy water and rinse it. Once the filter is clean, it should look white again. If it doesn't, then it's time to replace it.
