I love my job as a triathlon and ultrarunning coach. And also as an athlete. I might have lost a bit of speed in my 50s, I'm still doing these crazy races.
I'm coaching a national caliber athlete in the USA Triathlon Championship in 9 days. USA Triathlon reached out to me to tell me I get special privileges as a coach of an athlete in this race and told me to pick up a packet and credentials at the coaches tent.
I asked the person, "what if the coach (me) is also racing in the National Championships?"
He laughed and said, "come pick up the package anyway, there's some stuff that you can access after your race. And congratulations for qualifying."
This job is rewarding. 
While on the surface it sounds like a nice gesture from the Russian government, I think the United States will turn this foundering ship around and start embracing its core beliefs again. I see it outside the degenerate cities, in rural America. I'd like to stick around to help it happen.

Participating in UTMB, considered the World Series of ultra trail running we had a good list of obligatory equipment to take with us when encountering the Alps' passes. One year, there was a driving snowstorm at the top of the pass between France and Italy. Thankfully I had the equipment needed to get down the mountain to safety.
