Cops in CA will no longer have to be US citizens nor apply for citizenship!
Many CA. laws in the past few years have made it harder for current and future law enforcement (LE) officers to tolerate the increasingly hostile work environment. Laws such as: criminals having their past crimes downgraded and/or expunged; assaults on LE now only a misdemeanor instead of a felony; criminals being let out of jail early,
or instead of booking only being issued a citation to appear for many theft type crimes; counties can appoint oversight over a Sheriff (an elected official); making an officer's involvement in a "hate" group reason for termination without specifically defining what a hate group is; reducing qualified immunity (while other gov't officials keep their full protection); increasing the number of entities that can end an officer's career (outside of his employing agency); laws reducing use of non-lethal tools in a riot/demonstration scenario; LE can be terminated if they are a member of a "clique", and many others.
One of the worst is cops having to intercede in an "excessive use of force" scene by a fellow officer (under the threat of termination). In the heat of a use of force, cops should be focused on controlling the situation and protecting their fellow officers.
Instead, they will now be more worried about a "use of force" complaint and keeping their jobs. This will result in cops not trusting each other and cops being injured more than ever.
According to recently passed CA. Senate Bill 960, LE will only have to possess a "work visa" of sorts. These new cops will NOT be loyal to the dept. or citizens they "serve" but will be loyal to the entity (federal gov't) that maintains their work visa. They will have no allegiance to the U.S. or U.S. citizens. Also, if an officer uses unlawful actions against a citizen, they need only return to their home countries to avoid being held to account.

This is how CA is replacing the good cops that have been leaving, in mass, the imploding career path.

CAL. Legislature and Governor Newsom
disenfranchises voters in passing AB 2582.
This law was introduced on 2/18/22 a mere 17 days after the successful recall of Shasta Co. Supervisor Leonard Moty.

I call this Bill the "Shasta County Recall Retaliation Act" due to its timing.
Prior to this Bill passing, a recall ballot had 2 parts. Part 1 was to vote yes or no on the recall, then part 2 was to choose a replacement candidate. AB 2582 removed part 2 from a recall election. The replacement for a recalled office holder will be "chosen according to law". That means depending on the office, either the CA Governor or the local Board on whose seat was recalled, or the county Board of Supervisors will choose.
I thought the Democrats main argument against election reform was it would "disenfranchise" voters and make it more difficult for people to vote? How is the passage of AB 2582 NOT literal disenfranchisement?
This state continues to drip with hypocrisy and corruption.

re: 6.2 million dollar private security contract?
In 2020, the Board of Supervisors (BOS) approved a 3 year contract, with 2 automatic one year renewals, with Securitas Security USA for 6.2 million dollars. You'll read in the contract that they provide fixed security, mobile security, and on-demand services.
I believe the current BOS should seriously look at this for the upcoming budget cycle.
