There has never been a country called Palestine nor has there ever been an ethnic people group called Palestinians. After the Jews were expelled from their land by the Romans in the 1st century, Emperor Hadrian referred to the territory as Syria-Palaestina, which became Palestine for short. The designation was geographical. It wasn't meant to designate a specific group of people. Furthermore, Palistina is the Latin for Philistia, the land of the Philistines. Emperor Hadrian may have chosen this name to mock the Jews, and if this is the case it's actually a back-handed acknowledgement of a previous Jewish presence in the land. The Jerusalem Post used to be called the Palestine Post and it was established in 1932 as part of a Zionist-Jewish initiative. Though it was never officially adopted, during the British Mandate era (1920 - 1948) The Flag of Palestine had a Star of David on it.
And to clarify so there is no confusion, the remnant that is saved out of Israel is saved because they recognize Jesus as their Messiah - there is no other way. God promised Abraham a Land, a People (through Isaac and Jacob, not Ishmael and Esau), and Blessing. God also promised to establish the Throne of David. These Covenant Promises are fulfilled in the Millennial Kingdom but individual salvation is the by faith alone through grace alone in Christ alone.
