"Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying, Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.
"But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
"But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
"Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men." - Matthew 15:1-9 KJV
@whozis If your parents are a couple of fools does God expect you to honor them? At what age would God expect a person raised by evil parents not to honor them, nor obey their training? And however you answer, how do you know you are right?
I usually don't engage with antagonistic questioning. Trust in the scriptures of the Holy Bible as inspired by God, and the words of Jesus as the words from God informs my foundation of righteousness. In other words, God is right, Jesus brought that rightness to us, and therefore it is righteous. By the way, I made no comment above, I merely quoted the scriptures.
Did those "fools" or "evil people" rear you to adulthood? Keep you from starving? From dying from the ravages of weather? Nursed you when sick? Changed your diapers? They gave you honor in that they assisted your (1) coming into the world and (2) achieving adulthood. These accomplishments should be reciprocated by honoring, or assisting, them in old age or in other dire situations.
"For years, healthy seniors were advised to take low-dose aspirin to reduce heart attack and stroke risk.
"The rationale was that aspirin acts as a blood thinner, reducing the risk that a blood clot could cause a heart attack or stroke by clogging an artery.
"But in 2019, the leading heart groups — the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association — reversed that recommendation in a set of new guidelines.
"The groups concluded that daily aspirin for healthy seniors 70 and older wasn’t worth the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding.
"If you’re over 70, taking aspirin to prevent a first heart attack or stroke could do more harm than good," the AHA now says on its website."

@whozis I suspect that the $500.00 per month Eliquis and Xarelto were more profitable than the aspirin. This is, of course, more important.
@RobertJohn -- as someone who is sensitive to all NSAIDs and who has suffered from bleeding ulcers as a result of taking low-dose children's aspirin for three days, I felt that it was a good warning. There is a real danger, perhaps not for everyone, but for some like me.
I was sad when checking out at a favorite local big box store. We paid in cash and I gave the exact change of $0.73: two quarters, two nickels, one dime and three pennies. The cashier tried counting the change in his hand twice, shrugged and said, "Okay." It was obvious that he was unable to add the change.
Our schools and teachers need to do better.
@whozis "Deliberate Dumbing Down of America"?
@whozis I do believe that's a fair assessment... good to meet you!
@PointofView -- Good to meet you, too!

@whozis Any parent worth their salt would not send their children to public school which is, at best, just adult day-care while the parent works and, at worst, a detention center where young minds are trained in government propaganda.
@whozis I have found that even private and parochial (religious) schools are not much different than public schools in terms of their agenda. Homeschooling is really the only option these days if the children have any chance at a good education. At least the parent can avoid the government propaganda that is so common in public/private school system which is more than half the battle when it comes to raising morally upright, good citizens.
@Charley9 -- I agree, that's why I said that they need to be carefully vetted. I have read that most religious and private schools parrot the public school curriculum and agenda. Homeschooling is the best option and I have advocated for it for many years.

@Charley9 -- I agree that parents need to get their children out of the public school system. Many parents are "too busy living life" to even be aware that there are problems. I have personally tried to spread the word far and wide to homeschool your children, or else research private or religious schools for one that comports with the necessary education of your children.

@whozis "Deliberate Dumbing Down of America"?
@PointofView -- yes, and it has been going on for decades. Many decades! The communist left wants an ignorant populace so that they can better control them.

"Flossing is associated with a 22% lower risk of clot-caused stroke, and a 44% lower risk of a stroke caused by blood clots traveling from the heart, results show.
"Flossers also had a 12% lower risk of atrial fibrillation (A-fib), an abnormal heart rhythm that increases risk of stroke."

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." - 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV
@whozis Why is it that we forget to FEAR the repercussions for failing to abide by YHVH's (God's) commandments? Do we think we are not to fear YHVH (God)? Yes, I understand the context, and we are not to fear the woes of this world. However, then I see those who willful ignore His Word and assume they can do as they please expecting no correction. The curses of Deuteronomy make it clear that we SHOULD fear if we are walking contrary to Him. Just saying.
Proverbs 1:7
"The FEAR of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction."
Matthew 10:28
"And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather FEAR Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."
"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil." - Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 KJV
1/2 "And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
"And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
"And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
"And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."
2/2 "And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
"And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
"But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
"And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.
"And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb." - Luke 2:4-21 KJV
