@SouthernGuerilla The BVM is NOT God but the Mother of Jesus Christ, the second Person of the Blessed Trinity. She is an advocate for those who accept and follower her Son. Consequently, she can be an effective intercessor between God and man and people should pray to her. She doesn't perform miracles directly. Any miracles should be attributed to God's power. So, it is incorrect for a Catholic to say that "Mary stops a tsunami in Sri Lanka". Those who say such things are not Catholic but heretical pagans.
