In reference to DJT laughing when someone went into the Oval Office with a mask, let me point out that there are other reasons why people wear masks. In 1969, when I was in Seoul, Korea there was a state law that required all citizens to wear masks if they had a cold. Probably, at least a half of the people walking down the street wore a mask. Was wearing a mask the only defense against colds? Of course not, but in a heavily populated city, it probably didn't hurt either. Next, those who have had chemotherapy or receiving it are asked to wear masks because they are immunosuppressed. All of the St. Jude children wear masks in the hospital when receiving chemo. Next, allergy sufferers who have severe asthma attacks often wear masks when they go outside at certain times of the year. However, only in America can people not distinguish between a government mandated lie that told us "masks" prevent COVID, and a person wearing a mask because of bad allergies. When I was a kid my parents were relentless about "covering your mouth" when you had a cold and coughed or sneezed. Covering your mouth with a hand, elbow, or mask might not be such a bad idea. It bothers me that Americans can't "live and let live". If someone wanted to wear a mask for their own reasons, they should be able to, but now, "masks" have become the symbol of democratic evil and falsehoods. In one sense, I am glad people realize how ridiculous all those mandated restrictions were, but on the other, there is some credibility to "cover your mouth" for certain circumstances. While it could be possibly true that wearing a mask wouldn't help the spread of a virus very much, it couldn't hurt either. I swear some Americans are wound too tight, and although I support DJT, he makes an ass out of himself sometimes. In my opinion, this was one of them.
