I'm almost 70, fixed income, healthy & can walk further than most Americans but hey, I'm elderly & I neither drive nor have a car. A cab is $3.50/mile. Public transportation is a necessity or I can't get to the grocery store in the winter INDEPENDENTLY. And neighbors NEVER offer rides.
If your goal is to starve govt, develop a robust black market, trading goods & svcs w/o sales tax. People aren't hurt that way.
